EVALUATION OF THE THERAPEUTIC NUTRITION FOR PATEINTS IN SOME HOSPITALS
AHMED GOMAA NASR AHMED;
Abstract
The assessmg of nutritional status of the hospitalized patients involves four goals. First, patients who are nutritionally at risk need to be identified through a process known as nutritional screening. Once a patient is shown to be at nutritional risk, a nutritional assessment should be done to determine the severity and causes of the patient's nutritional impairment.
In general, to accomplish these goals, the dietitian is helpful in several ways:
(1) To obtain basic information about the patient and his living situation that relates to his health needs,
(2) To provide some basic nutritional teaching to help him meet these needs, and
(3) To support the patient m his efforts to meet his needs,
'
through encouragement, reinforcement and general concern
and caring.
Accordingly, the evaluation of the nutritional status of hospitalized patents is necessary to clarifY their health situation.
