Abstract


One of the most common and serious complications of diabetes is hypertension. Ninety Egyptian individuals were selected for the present study. They were divided into three groups; the control, the diabetic normotensive and the diabetic hypertensive groups. This work was undertaken to investigate the correlation between the elevated blood sugar level and the serum lipid pattern, in diabetic individuals in Egypt. To compare the serum lipids in diabetic hypertensive versus diabetic normotensive patients, with explain on view of the concept of insulin resistance, as well as to investigate any impairment of kidney functions accompanying the diabetic cases.
