STUDIES ON SOME HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS

Abstract

Thiazole and there substituted derivatives are found in a wide variety of medicinally important compounds. We report here the new synthesis of some new substituted thiazole ring. The reaction of 2- amino-4(3-coumarin)-1,3-thiazole 1 with some acid anhydride 2,3,4 in Toluene - TEA yielded the corresponding imide derivatives 10,11,12 Chart 1,2.

1 Condensed with some benzooxazin derivatives 5, 6 in toluene - • TEA (water separator system) to yield the corresponding quinazoline derivatives 13, 14 Chart 1.

The product of Dieis - Alder Reaction 9, 10-dihydroanthracene-9,

1 0-endo-a - succinic anhydride 7 also condensed with 1 to yield the corresponding imide 9,10-dihydroanthracene- 9,10- endo- a- N­ [4-(3-coumarin)-thiazol-2yl] succinirnide 15 Chart 3. The same reaction conditions failed to react 1 with benzalphthalide 8 and o- cresolphthalein 9 to produce 16, 17 Chart 3

1 condensed with phenyloxazole derivatives 19 a-c in glacial acetk acid in presence of fused sodium acetate in reflux condition to yield the pyrazole derivatives 20 a-c Chart 4.
