EFFlCACY OF MiVACURIUM VERSUS SUCCI!dLCHOLIN£ AS A MUSCLE RELAXANT IN RIGID OESOPHAG0SCOPIES

Nermeen Said Metwally;

Abstract

Over the past decade, there has been an increase in endoscopic procedures as oesophagoscopies for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

A depolarizing agent succinylcholine was a popular neuromuscular blocking agent for short procedures like oesophagoscopy due to its rapid onset and short duration of action.

Unfortunately, succinylcholine has many undesirable and potentially harmful side effects, so a potential replacement for succinylcholine IS the ultrashort acting non depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agent mivacurium.
