COMPARATIVE STUDIES ON SOME UMBELLIFERAE PLANTS DISTRIBUTED IN SINAI AND ISMAILIA REGIONS

Abstract


Nineteen (19) umbelliferous taxa were collected from their different natural habitats in Sinai and lsmailia regions through several collection trips. The seeds of this different taxa were cultivated in the field of the Experimental Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture in Ismailia, Suez Canal University throughout the two successive seasons of 1997 I
98 and 1998 I 99 for increasing their number and taking the samples to


explore the taxonomic aspects using morphological and anatomical characters of their leaves and reproductive organs. These nineteen taxa are (Ammi majus L., Ammi visnaga (L.) Lam., Anethum graveolens L., Apium graveolens L., Apium leptophyllum (Pers) F. Muell. ex Benth., Bupleurum semicompositum L., Bupleurumfalcatum L. sub.sp. exaltatum (M.Bieb.) H. Wolff var. linearifolium (DC.) H Wolff, Carum carvi L., Coriandrum sativum L., Daucus litoralis Sm., Daucus syrticus Murb., Deverra triradiata Hochst. ex Boiss., Deverra tortuosa (Desf.) DC., Ferula sinalca Boiss., Foeniculum vulgare Mill., Malabaila suaveolens Delile ex Coss, Petroselinum crispum (Mill) A.W.Hill., Pseudorlaya • pumila (L.) Grande var. breviculeata (Boiss) Tack. ex Zohary and Scandix stellata Banks & Sol.).
