Molecular. Typing Of Major Pathogens From Bovine Mastitis
Ashgan Mohammed Mostafa Yousef;
Abstract
18.57%, while 31.43% and 41.43% ofthe subclinically mastitic cows had infection in the 3 and 4 quarters respectively.
The severity of mastitis was studied by detecting the incidence percentage of subclinical mastitis to the number of quarter milk samples. The severity of mastitis was high in subclinical mastitis with a score of
++ (15.94%) but a lower percentage (6.54 and 13.42) was recorded in subclinical mastitis with a score of+,+++ respectively. 382 were normal (64.09%).
Moreover, the prevalence rate of clinical mastitis was 10%. The majority of clinical cases had infection in 1 quarter (69.56%) and 30.43% had infection in 2 quarters.
Correlation between incidence of mastitis and stage of lactation revealed that the clinical mastitic cows was recorded during the early lactation period and late lactation period with an incidence of 41.3% and
31.78% while at mid lactation was 23.91%. Meanwhile, the prevalence rate of subclinical mastitis were 38.57%,34.29 and 27.14% during the early, mid and late lactation period respectively. Bacteriological examination of clinical and subclinical mastitic quarter milk samples as well as 50 negative CMT quarter milk samples revealed the following bacterial isolates: S. aureus 67 (19.6%), E. coli 48 (14.04%), S. agalactiae 33 (9.65%), S. dysgalactiae 20 (5.84%), S. uberis 16 (4.68%), S. epidermidis and A. pyogenes 11 (3.22% each), Klebsiella pnewnoniae 10 (2.92%) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa 9 (2.63%).
These bacterial isolates were isolated either single or mixed with each other.
