Designing and validating a Marketing Plan for Nursing Education

Abstract


Marketing and branding are worthwhile efforts that demonstrate organization and system pride in nursing. An organization that makes the effort to show nurses they are important in the organization can influence recruiting and retention and choosing nursing as a future career. Nurses identify organization and unit environment as factors in turnover. Making a public commitment to the value of nurses is a strong step in setting the climate and environment for recruiting and retention (Pinkerton, 2010). Marketing is meaning that "what consumers really want is (offers) that dazzle their senses, touch their hearts, and stimulate their minds, declares one experience"(Kotler, et al., 2008; and Kurtz, 2013).
Countries’ systems of nursing education are now clearly located in an increasingly global world of health, and health care that recognizes that a more educated nursing workforce remains the critical component of any initiative to better meet health care needs (Ma, et al., 2012).
The present study aimed at designing and validating a marketing plan for the nursing education, assessing the target students' awareness about nursing education, designing a marketing plan for the nursing education based on that assessment, examining validity of the proposed marketing plan based on experts point of view, and applying one of the marketing plan elements through setting a web site.
The current study was conducted in (21) totally selected:schools )14 ( reparatory schools10) governmental and 4 private and ((7) secondary schools4 ) governmental and 3 private( at Helwan Governorate, affiliated to Ministry of Education). Two groups of subjects

were included in the study. The first group consisted of totally (640) students, as a representative random sample of) 430 (students at the third preparatory of the selected preparatory school and (210 (students at the third secondary scientific branch of the selected secondary school: as prospective candidates for nursing education. And the second group was a jury group of experts of faculty members; the total number was (11) members, working at nursing administration department at Faculty of Nursing, Ain Shams University, Helwan University, and Cairo University and at marketing department, American University in Cairo. They comprised three professors, five assistant professors and three lecturers.
Data were collected using two types of tools. These were self-administrative questionnaire sheet and opinionnair sheet for experts. Marketing plan development has gone. Preliminary forms were prepared; they were face and content validated through experts' opinions. Then, the
