STUDY OF ANTIARRHYTHMIC EFFECT OF ANGIOTENSIN CONVERTING ENZYME INHIBITORS IN PATIENTS WITH ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

Mona Mohammed Soliman;

Abstract

Ventricular Arrhytlunia are considered an independent predictor of prognosis after AMI. ACE inhibitors seems to have a protective effect against reperfusion induced arrhythmias. The aim of tllis study was to examine this effect.
Eighty sex-and age-matched patients with acute AMI were consecutively enrolled in tllis study. All the myocardial infarction patients were admitted to CCU within 6 hours of onset of chest pain and randomized to untreated control and caporal- and armorial- treatment groups. Each group included equal numbers of patients with anterior and inferior infarction. The diagnosis of AMI was based on WHO (1981) criteria:
All patients were clinically evaluated immediately and during the first 24 hours of admission. Patients with onset of chest Pain more than 6 hours were excluded from tl1e study. Patients with systolic blood pressure repeatedly below 90 mmHg, cardiogenic shock or diabetes mellitus were also excluded.
Those with systemic disease, history of prev10us myocardial infarction and those receiving or ACE inhibitors before the onset of AMI were not included.
