ٍSome Studies on toxoplasmosis in poultry transmissible to man
Mohammed Essa Marghany;
Abstract
T. gondii infection in feral chickens is a good indicator ofT. gondii infection in the soil because of that species' eating habits. Birds and rodents are important intermediate hosts forT. gondii because they serve as source ofT. gondii infection for cats. Despite their apparent resistance, infected birds can retain the parasite in their organs for several months after infection showing their possible role as reservoirs and as vectors of parasite.
In the present work, we aimed to detect prevalence of T. gondii infection among poultry to evaluate its possible role in transmission of infection to humans. We used modified agglutination test to detect anti Toxoplasma antibodies in sera of chickens.
