Abstract
The main objective of the studies described in this thesis involved the synthesis of some classes of heterocyclic compounds derived from low molecular weight carbohydrates.
Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) which, is a bulk product in sugar industry was used for the preparation of furan derivatives. The ftrst part includes the synthesis of new funcutionalized acetylenic furanes and thiophenes starting from 2-furancarboxaldehyde (1), 2-thiophenecarbox aldehyde (7) and 2-bromo-thiophene (23).
