"Efficient Route for Synthesizing Some Pyrimidine Derivatives of Potential Biological Activity using Silicon and/or other Reagents"
Eslam Atiyyah Mostafa Moham;
Abstract
Syntheses of several new pyrane, pyrano[2,3- d]pyrimidine, 4(3H)quinazolinone (benzopyrimidine) and their related derivatives were carried out and their suggested structures were confirmed via elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectroscopic and Mass analysis.
Antioxidant activity of some selected examples in between the synthesized products was screened and the gained activity for each tested compound(s) was measured by its ability to scavenge the Diphenyl Picryl Hydrazyl (DPPH) free radical as compared by some known radical scavengers, Quercetin, T butyl hydroquinone, and Gallic acid, were tested in the assay as positive controls.
Screening of some synthesized products was investigated as
antitumor agents against HepG2, MCF-7 and A549 tumor cell lines. Also, the prepared products were tested to drop their antiviral activity against influenza virus H5Nl via determination of TC50 using the plaque reduction assay on MDCK cells. All tested compounds showed week antiviral activity compared with Zanamivir drug.
