Mineralogical and Chemical Studies On Some Raw Materials And Their Impact On Cement Industry

Magdy Omar;

Abstract

The aim of the present work is to study the impact of the raw materials and the process followed in different cement plants strewn allover Egypt. For this purpose samples from the • raw material, raw mixes, clinker and cement were collected from seven plants. Three of these lie in the Greater Cairo area: Tura, Helwan and Quattarnia ; two in the Nile Valley: Beni Suef and Assuit ; and from the Suez area : Suez cement plant ; and one from the northern coastal area, west of Alexandria : Ameryia.
The samples have been collected during 1995. They,
therefore, represent baches of cement produced during parts of this year. The present production and to a certain extent the raw materials used could have changed from what is described in this work.
The studied sections include Eocene, Miocene, Pliocene
and Quaternary deposits in the Nile Valley (Mankabad, East Beni Suef, East Helwan .. and. Tura), Cairo-Suez District (Qattarnia, Gebel Akheider, Wadi Hagul) and the north coast, Gharbanyat.
