Developmental Apraxia of Speech

Asmaa Mahmoud Abd Elsalam Abd Elkader;

Abstract

Developmental apraxia of speech (DAS) is a neurological speech disorder reflecting an impaired capacity to plan or program sensorimotor commands necessary for directing movements that result in phonetically and prosodically normal speech. DAS can occur in the absence of dysarthria and in the absence of disturbance of language. The core impairment in planning and/or programming spatiotemporal parameters of movement sequences results in errors in speech sound production and prosody.
