Abstract
This study was undertaken to identify biochemical, hematological, clinical and ultrasonographic parameters associated with presence of esophageal vrices in patients with cirrhosis.
This study was conducted on 80 Egyptian subjects; 40 cases&40healthy as control.The cases presented with upper gastro-intestinal bleeding due to esophageal varices, Their age ranged between 30-70 years with mean age of 49.1±8.6 years, they were 30 males (75%) and 10 females (25%) treated by endoscopic sclerotherapy. The 40 healthy controls were with age ranged between 28-65 years with mean age of 48.6±8.5 years, they were 29 males (72.5%) and 11 females (27.5%), our subjects divided into 2 groups:
