TUMOUR NECROSIS FAGOR-ALPHA IN CHILDHOOD NEPHROTIC SYNDROME
Happy Kayser Dawod;
Abstract
The exact pathogenesis of idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (NS) is still unknown. It has been speculated that a cytokine released by circulating blood mononuclear cell could alter the permeability of glomerular capillary wall. Tumor necrosis factor- alpha (TN F-a) is one of these cytokines. Our aim to
investigate the possible role ofTNF-u. in m' ecli glomerular injury ofNS. The present study included 35 patients with NS and 15 children presumably healthy who IYt:re taken as
control group. TNF•c( was measured in patients and control group using ELISA method.
It was found that TNF-u. is higher in patients than control group CONCLUSION: TNF-rx is possibly to play illl impDrtant role in determining the pathological lesion oi'NS and in sequence the course or disease, response to treatment, and prognosis.
