A study on the truncated queues

Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to obtain analytical solution of the truncated queues in general considering the balking and reneging concepts. The researcher treats these queues for general value of N (capacity of system). Also he obtains Pnj (the probabilities that there• are n units in the system and the arrival units joins branch j or stage j) .. Also some measures of effectiveness are deduced ..
The general plan of this thesis which contains four chapters is to present, in general, the problem of probability calculations of the truncated queues .
The first chapter is a general introduction .
In chapter two, the researcher derives the analytical solution of the truncated general bulk service rule with balking:
\or the Erlangian queue: EdM?'b/1/N. The service is governed by a general rule: service begins only when ''a'' units are presented.
•f the queue 1ength is ::. a but ;;; b the entire queue is taken up,

if there are more than b, then the server accepts the first b
units.
