CHARGE TRANSFER COMPLEXES OF SOME AZOLES AND AZINES WITH ELECTRON ACCEPTORS

Shawkat Mohammed Bayoumi;

Abstract

The general scope of the present thesis is a systematic investigation on the charge-transfer molecular complexes of some azoles such as pyrazoles, oxazoles, benzoxazoles and
azines (triazines) with (}- electron acceptor (iodine) and with n:- electron acceptors viz., p-chloranil (CHL), tetracyanoethylene (TCNE) and 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyanobenzoquinone (DDQ).
The importance of this study is related to the essential role of

charge-transfer molecular complexes in drug and hormone action and its wide applications in different areas of practical chemistry, physics and biochemistry. Further, pyrazole derivatives are important pharmaceuticals, which possess analgesic, antipyretic, antiinflammatory, antidepressant and antimcrobial properties. Also, oxazole compounds have extensive pharmaceutical and industrial uses. Additionally,
1,3,5-triazine and some of its derivatives are of special interest due to their accessibility and their potential therapeutic values
for the treatment of cancer and depression.
