Abstract


Two field experiments were carried out at the Experimental Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Saba Bacha, Alexandria University during the two successive seasons of 1996 and 1997 to study the effect of different fertilization treatments including nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers, organic fertilizer I:Bio-treasure], mixture of mineral and organic fertilizers and bio fertilizer I:Phosphorin] on yield, its components and some fiber properties of Egyptian cotton (Gossypium barbadense, L.) variety Giza 70 belonging an extra long staple category.


The experimental design in the two seasons was a randomized complete blocks design with four replications. Seeds were sown on 21
of March in both 1996 and 1997 seasons. The soil experiments consisted of 36 experimental plots, plot area was 14.7 m2 (4.2 x 3.5 m), each experimental unit consisted of six ridges beside one belt ridge, 3.5 m long and 60 em wide. The space between hills was 20 em.
