Role of Diagnostic Laparoscopy in Cases of Unexplained Infertility
Ahmed Gamal Abd El-Rahim Hefny;
Abstract
It is generally accepted that diagnostic laparoscopy is the gold standard in diagnosing tubal pathology and other intra-abdominal causes of infertility.
Diagnostic laparoscopy, therefore, is frequently a standard procedure performed as the final test in the infertility work up in many clinics before the couple progresses to infertility treatment.
Some of the abnormalities responsible for infertility may only be diagnosed by laparoscopy. Laparoscopy is the definitive means for assessing abnormal pelvic anatomic relationships. The diagnosis of endometriosis by laparoscopy remains the gold standard. Laparoscopic evaluation allows a complete survey of the peritoneal surface
