The problem of the study can be stated in the following question:

How effective is teaching a study skills program to first year English J majors in the Faculty of Education in Fayoum on their acquisition and use

of these skills and on their proficiency in English?

Research Hypotheses:

I. There is a statistically significant difference (favoring the post test) between means of scores obtained by subjects of the experimental group on the pre and the post test of acquisition of study skills.
