Abstract

Solar energy is considering a renewable energy Source. Recently, the cost of a complete system of solar cell is still more expensive of countries that has a high solar radiation received (nearly we have it 8 hours daily) without any cost. Petrol and natural gas resources are finite, so solar energy become one of the important source which should use in the future. The aim of this thesis, in general, centers around the important of convert light energy into electric energy by choice the solar photovoltaic power system (PVPS) as a renewable energy system. In regard to the advantages as the smallness of mechanical lost and not sail the environment as the other sources, El-Minia city was chosen in this thesis in regard to the advantages that it has. The thesis discusses the importance of renewable energy, and concentrates on the technology, which converts solar energy into electricity by solar cells, which is known as photovoltaic effect (PV). The thesis establishes data base system by using software program. The program helps the users to describe the solar energy system depending on the input data. The description contains the calculations of power required, active area for solar cell, type and number of modules. The required input data consists of the required power, type of application, location (where the application will be put) and power conditioning (cabling, controllers and batteries). The solar radiation maps enhance the program for El-Minia City. However the users modify or add any international maps for any region throughout the world. The introduction describes the importance of renewable energy especially for the developing countries and discusses the applications of solar energy and photovoltaic effect.
