.Effect of some detrgents on some mycological activities in Egyptian soil
Ahmed Abuel-Fadel bakry Amer;
Abstract
The present investigation aimed at studving the effect of detergents on the population of soil fungi, when applied directly to the soil or when incorporated into isolation agar medium. Two types of media (glucose-Czapek's agar and cellulase-Czapek's agar) were used for isolation of soil fungi. The effect of these detergents on the keratinophilic fungi was also tested. The hair baiting technique was employed for isolation of keratinophilic fungi.
Aria!:
1- Aria! when applied to the soil was promotive to the total count of both sugar and cellulase-decomposing fungi on the short term specially with lower and medium doses but it was depressive on the long term specially with the higher doses.
2- When incorporated into the agar medium at the five doses (100, 200,
300, 500, 1000 mg/L), Aria! exerted a significant inhibition on the count of total fungi and several fungal species recovered on both glucose and cellulase-Czapek's agar medium at least by higher doses.
3- Aria! when added to the soil on Sabouraud's dextrose agar, the total isolates of keratinophilic fungi were not affected by the high dose and activated by the other doses. The inhibitory effect of Aria! was observed on the count of Aphanoascus (with the higher doses) and Nectria haematococca (with the low dose).
