STUDY OF RETINAL VEIN OCCLUSION AND ITS DETERMINANT FACTORS
Hoda Mohamed Kamel El-Sobky;
Abstract
A case - control study was conducted in this work to investigate the association between different risk factors and R. V .0. Different statistical methods were used including X2 test, Fisher's exact test, Odds ratio, t student test and Wilcoxon 2 sample test, where the results obtained by different methods were consistent suggesting presence or absence of a causal association between risk factor and disease.
The studied cases consisted of 30 patients (14 d and
16 Q) with a mean age 52.96 ± 8.00 who were suffering from recent RVO in one eye (of a duration not more than 6 months) .. Another group of 30 controls not suffering from the disease (I 6 d and 14 Q) with a mean age of 55.26 ±
8.15 were included in the study. Both groups proved to be
similar in age and sex distribution and were collected from the outpatient clinic of Menoufiya U ni versi ty.
This study showed the following :
* The majority of cases (80 %) had BRVO while only
20% had CRVO also the most common BRVO was the superior temporal vein (60%).
