SELENIUM DISTRIBUTION AND BEHAVIORIN SOME SOILS OF EGYPT

EMAN MOHAMED ABD EL-RAZIK;

Abstract

Selenium (Se) is an essential element for humans, animals and some species of microorganisms. Selenium has been detected in many sources. Their application could lead to soil, plant, and water selenium pollution. The objective of this study is two fold: 1) to assess soil characteristics which are most highly related to Se content in different soil locations of Egypt. 2) to determine the parameters required to describe selenium transport in some Egyptian soils.
