PCR gene detection among HARMONY collection of Staphylococcus aureus from bovine milk and human nasal carriage epidemiological and genetic findings
Alaa Tharwat Abd El Monem;
Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus is considered as a significant pathogen of animal and human. Economic importance to dairy industry due to staphylococcal infection results from subclinical mastitis accompanied with reduction in the milk quality and a loss of its production. S. aureus is the most common bacteria in subclinical mastitis cases. Nowadays methicillin resistance in farm animals has gained particular attention from public health authorities. Infected animals can pass MRS to humans who are in close contact with them. Infections in humans caused by livestock associated MRS have been reported.
The current study aimed to isolate and identify S.aureus from milk in healthy & diseased animals as well as from human nasal carriers. The aim also was, detection of the diversity between animal and human isolates by using phenotypic methods and amplification of certain genes; coa and mecA using PCR technique.
