Abstract

SUMMARY
O
ur study was done on 40 patients on regular hemodialysis from Ahmed Maher hospital and EL-Zytoon hospital, patients were subdivided into two groups, group A patients are positive for hepatitis C virus, group B are negative for hepatitis C virus, for the two groups, we took history with emphasize on duration of hemodialysis, hepatitis C virus and doses of IV Erythropoietin, IV Iron, One alphaCalcidiol, and elemental calcium supply and we measured HB, blood Urea, serum Creatinine, serum Alkaline Phosphatase, ALT, AST, Serum Ca, Serum Phosphorus, Parathyroid hormone, CRP, serum Albumin, abdominal ultra- sonography and DEXA.
In our study statistics were done where we found that on adding the mean bone mineral DEXA parameter values to their +ve and -ve SD, all lumbar region parameters within HCV +Ve patients were reaching osteoporosis values, while being only within osteopenia range within HCV –Ve group.
Within femoral DEXA parameters, all parameters concerning HCV –ve patients were included within the osteopenia range, while in HCV +ve patients, only Ne T-Score and Wa T-score were ranging from osteopenia to osteoporosis, while the remaining parameters were within osteopenia range only.
