EVALUATION OF SOME SUNFLOWER HYBRIDS UNDER DIFFERENT LEVELS OF NITROGEN FERTILIZATION

Mohamed Morsy Mohamed Awad;

Abstract

Sunflower receive considerable attention in Egypt for increasing its yield potential. Planting a good hybrids and fertilizing with a suitable N-level are the most important factors affecting the production of sunflower, where nitrogen plays an important role in plant growth and is considered as an indispensable element for several vital functions. The present investigation was conducted at Sakha Agricultural Research Station Farm, during 1998 and 1999 seasons, to study the effect of nitrogen rates on growth, seed and oil yield and its components of ten
sunflower hybrids.

• Three N-levels (A) used were 15, 30 and 45 kg N/feddan. The ten sunflower hybrids used were (Eruflore, Maco, Vidoc, Alamo and

Malabar) French hybrids and five local hybrids (H-44, H-112, H-102, H-

14 and H-94).

A split plot design with four replication was used. The nitrogen rates were randomly allocated at the main plots and hybrids to the sub plots. Samples of sunflower plants were taken at 35, 45 and 55 days after sowing (DAS) for growth analysis determination.

The obtained results can be summarized as follows.
