Amr Mohamed El-Sayed;
Abstract
22 patients with schistosomiasis, 20 with amoebiasis, and 33 having ulcerative colitis (uc), I 0 suffering from colonic tumours were selected for this study. Ten subjects diagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome served as controls. After the clinical and stool examination, colonoscopy and histopathological examination serum samples were examined for TNF,
IL-8, LTB4, and MPO in addition to (ANCA). Tissue biopsies were examined for the levels ofiL-8, LTB-4, and MPO. The highest positivity for ANCA and immune mediators was found in patients having uc, and schistosomiasis.
