Abstract

Zinc and Copper are very important metals due to their widely
applications in many aspects as a result of their good properties.
Therefore, it is very useful to study corrosion protection of these
metals. Several methods can be applied to study the corrosion of
metals and alloys in different aqueous environments. The use of
inhibitors is one of the most practical methods to protect metals
from aqueous corrosion.
Therefore, the present work was devoted to study corrosion and
corrosion inhibition of Zinc and Copper in aqueous solutions. In
order to achieve this purpose, the present thesis includes the
following three chapters:
Chapter 1
Contains an introduction which deals with the following topics of
the interest: corrosion of metals, types and forms of corrosion,
pitting corrosion, methods of corrosion protection, corrosion
inhibition, type of inhibitors, importance of Zinc, corrosion of
Copper, and aim of work.
Chapter 2
Deals with electrodes, solutions, equipments and procedure used.
The corrosion experiments were examined by the following
techniques:
a- Potentiodynamic polarization method.
b- Tafel polarization method.
c- Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)

Chapter 3
Deals with the results and discussion. The work in this chapter
divided into two parts.
