Characterization of cell attachment factors in camel sera

Ehab Aly Drees Hassan;

Abstract

Two factors required for the adhesion and spreading of vero cells to artificial tissue culture surfaces have been identified in the camel serum, both of them are glycoprotein components. The high molecular weight factor "The Camel Fibronectin" [FN] was purified to homogeneity , its amino acid, carbohydrate composition , tertiary , and domain structure have been determined and compared with the bovine
FN. The structure of camel FN is generally similar to other
mammalian FNs, only minor differences were found in the amino acid and carbohydrate compositions. Comparison of the antigenicity of the camel and bovine FNs in Western blot against anti - serum to camel FN revealed different immunological identities.
