Abstract


The experimental set-up and the measurmg technique developed for this study is extremely versatile for studying characteristics of corona and silent discharge plasmas generated at atmospheric pressure a:nd temperature. The measurements of current-voltage characteristics and the associated ozone generation characteristics allowed the analysis of corona discharges in relation to silent discharges over the whole range of the investigated parameters. These measurements were provided by oscillograms describing the waveforms of AC and square pulse voltages applied to the reactors and the corresponding discharge current as well as photographs showing the glow of corona and silent discharges recorded under different operating conditions. From the experimental results carried-out during the course of the present study, the main conclusions, which may be drawn, are summarized as follows:
