Rania Rafik Khalil;
Abstract
The overwhelming ancient and modem preference for political and military history, and the fascination with intellectual history, has' obscured the record of "people" who were excluded by sex or clan from participating m the political and intellectual life of their societies. Although pagan goddesses were as powerful as the gods, there was a distinction between the culture of men and that of women and a wide discrepancy between the cultural rewards a society offered to women; the status of human females was very low.
