Abstract


The main objective of this study was to compare some productive traits m some native and exotic breeds of chickens under the circumstances of intensive production farms. The experiments of the study were conducted at the Poultry Strains Improvement Project, Ferhash, Housh Eissa, Behera Governorate, Egypt, plus a private farm in the same area.
The study comprised two parts; first part concerning of egg production

and second part for broiler production.


Data used for the first part of the study of egg production covered three generations (i.e. from 1991 to 1994). Total numbers of native pullets used were
5549, 7259, 9589, 6681, 14155 and 50 for Silver Montazah, Mandarah, Golden Montazah, Gimmizah, Fayoumi and Norfa, respectively, while the numbers of exotic pullets were 12605, 1352, 789 and 50 for RIR, WPR, W. Leghorn and LSL breeds, respectively. Moreover, two crossbreds (i.e. Fayoumi x RIR and its reciprocal RIR x Fayoumi) were also used and their numbers were 10786 and 9359 pullets, respectively.
