Effective Phacoemulsification Time in Femto Cataract in Comparison to Conventional Cataract

Marwa Mostafa Mahmoud;

Abstract

Femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery presents a unique set of clinical and financial challenges to the cataract surgeon.
During the early evolution of this new technology, questions arise as to whether the clinical value of the technique justifies the substantial investment required for acquisition and maintenance of these systems.
The femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery offer a femtosecond laser assisted option to three basic steps in cataract surgery: corneal incisions, capsulotomy, and initial lens fragmentation.
The femtosecond laser (FL) is a surgical tool used to prepare accurate, uniform and predictable incisions in the cornea.
Femtosecond laser separates the stromal lamellae using ultra-short-wavelength energy, which creates contiguous small bubbles that expand to form a resection plane.
