"Phenotypic and Genotypic characterization of Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamases producing salmonellae recovered from chicks"

Mohamed Rady Abd El-Ghaffar;

Abstract

1- A standard microbiological technique was used for Salmonella isolation and identification according to ISO 6579(2002).
2- A total of 240 samples were collected from clinically diseased chicks from private farms in Fayoum, Beni-suef, Giza and All over western Assuit Road and examined for the presence of Salmonella microorganisms. A total of 50 bacterial isolates were recovered. The identification of such isolates revealed that they belonged to Salmonella spp. with an incidence of 20.8% as shown in Table (5).
3- Isolates of Salmonella spp. were recovered from examined samples and serologically typed as Salmonella Kentukey, Salmonella Infantis, Salmonella Hiedelberg Salmonella Labadi. Salmonella Enteritidis Salmonella Typhi Salmonella Agona Salmonella Pullorum Salmonella Newport and Salmonella Virginia.
4- There were 2 pan susceptible Salmonella isolates (i.e. susceptible to all antimicrobial drugs
