Esophageal Mucosal Changes In Type II Diabetic Patients

Abstract


This work aimed to study the esophageal mucosal changes in type 2 diab\!tic patients and to clarify the possible direct effect of hyperglycemia on these changes.

• Eighty individuals were included in this study, sixty patients with type2 diabetes mellitus ad 20 non-diabetic individuals: with newly discovered hepatitis C virus infection without any clinical or.sonographic hepatic insult (accidentally discovered) as a control group.
The patients of this study were classified into three groups:


Group]:

It included 30 patients with controlled type2 DM, 14 males and 16 females, their ages ranged from 34 to 55 years old, 14 of these patients were with DAN and 16 were without DAN.

Group II:

It included 30 patients with uncontrolled type 2 DM, 14 males and

16 females, their ages ranged from 35 to 56 years old, 17 from these patients were with DAN and 13 were without DAN.

Group ill:

It included 20 non-diabetic patients with newly accidentally discovered hepatitis C virus infection without any clinical or sonographic hepatic insult as a control group. It included II males and 9 females, their ages ranged from 35 to 54 years old.
