Abstract


Vitamin D resistant rickets is that type of rickets, which is resistant to the usual doses of vitamin D that usually cure vitamin D deficiency rickets.

'
It represents a significant medical problem because the fact that

misdiagnosed or late diagnosed leads to physical development retardation and to severe deformities of extremities with affection of adult height and bad psychological effects. Early diagnosis and proper management of patients prevents these sequelae of complications.


This work was done to study the pattern of presentation of VDRR in patients of the nephrology clinic and estimation the level of I ,25(0H)2D and a trial of correlation between level of active vitamin D and the clinical and laboratory data was done.


The study was on (35) cases, (25) patients with vitamin-D resistant rickets as well as (l0) cases age and sex matched control group.


Study patients were divided into two groups:

1- Hypophosphatemic rickets (84%)

2- Hypocalcemic rickets ( 16%)
