THE EFFECT OF SCHOOL MEAL GIVEN TO THE SECONDARY AGRICULTURAL SCHOOL STUDENTS AT MENOUFIA GOVERNORATE ON THEIR NUTRITIONAL STATUS

Abstract
This work was designed to study the effect of school meal given to the secondary agricultural school students at Menufia Governorate on their nutritional status .
The studied sample in eluded 300 students of both grnders ( 174 male and 126 Femal) their ages ranged 14-22 years old.
All students from secondary school for agriculture at shibin Elkom and quesena were taken .
Students were subjected to the following studies :
l - Socio - economic studies : including education and accupation of . parents, monthly income, number of brothers, & sisters, number persons, number rooms, degree crowdeness, number of meals, school meal period, Time spinding .exercise ;.: range concontration.
2 - Dietary studies : including information a bout dietary intake through observation of food intake, evaluation of menus offered at school and recognition food preferences among sample by using aquestionnaire form. Using food composition tables. nutrient elements contained in the food ingested were obtained. They are : energy, animal protein, total protion, animal Fat , total Fat , carbohydrate, Fiber, calcium , animal iron, ToTal iron , sodium, zinc, vitamins A, B 1, 82 , B6 , B12 , C and niacin were compared vith the respective values reported by the recommended Dietary Allowances ( RDA, 1989 ) for the appropriate sex and age .
3 - Anthropometric studies : measurements of weight, height, arm circumference, skinfold thickness and arm muscle circumference were abtained and were related to the corresponding standard values for the age groups and sex .
