EVALUATION OF THE ROLE OF HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY IN NON-ISCHEMIC DIABETIC FOOT LESION
Ahmed Abo El Ela Serage;
Abstract
HBO is a non-invasive therapy. In its clinical applications, the patient breathes 100% while fully enclosed in a speciaLly designed chamber at ambient pressures up to three times normal atmospheric pressure.
The primary effect of administering oxygen
at greater to dissolve
than normal atmospheric pressure is physically significant amounts of
oxygen at much increased the blood plasma. This
partial pressures in facilitates healing
through enhanced macrophage function,
fibroblast proliferation,
and collagen synthesis,
angiogenesis, and epithelization.
In addition HBO therapy improves leukocyte bacterial killing a't>ility for aerobic microorganisms and directly kills anaerobic microorganisms.
