P300 auditory Event - Related Potentials in Normal Adults and Qeriatric population
Soha Abd-Elraof Makky;
Abstract
Auditory P300 ERP is one of the endogenous late evoked response .It is a long positive going component with about 300 msec latency after presentation of task relevant stimuli. The most common stimulus is the tonal odd-ball paradigm (Polich,
1996).
P300 ERP closely reflect cognitive nctions such as stimulus discrimination and processing as well as attention capabilities (Kugler eta1.,1996). P300 has been associated with diverse cognitive processes and its latency and amplitude are affected by many disorders e.g. dementia. These P300 measures (Latency-Amplitude) depend very critically on subject's age (Polich and Kok, 1995). So it is necessary to obtain an age related normal database for precrse interpretation of these measures.
