Abstract
The present study was carried out during 1999 and 2000 seasons at Laboratory and Experimental Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University to investigate the activity of various natural products, biocides and safety insecticides against some sucking pests, infesting cotton crop and
it's associated predator C. undecimpunctata, to select the promising
compounds, which can be recommended to use in integrated pest programs of cotton sucking pests, furthermore, to throw the light on the role of C. undecimpunctata predator in controlling A. gossypii, as one of the major injurious insects infesting cotton crop, under field conditions.
I. Laboratory experiments:
•!• The influence of various tested compounds against Coccinel/ a undecimpunctata revealed that CMC, Si-Si-6, detergent, Sol-EC, biomite, neem extract, vertimec and liquid sulphur exhibited, 98.35,
98.35, 95.95, 79.40, 78.80, 78.50, 67.40 and 63.70% mortality, respectively.
•:• Tre pesticidal activity of the tested compounds against cotton aphid
A: gossypii indicated that biomite exhibited the highest toxic action
followed by liquid sulphur, while neem-extract was the lowest one.
LC50 values were 793.3, 2511.9 and 2630.3 ppm.
TI. Field experiments:
1. The predation efficiency of C. undecimpunctata predators against A. gossypii preys was evaluated under caged plants in cultivated cotton field. The obtained data showed that (1:5, 1:15 and 1:20) predator I prey ratios caused (100, 60 and 40%), (100, 100 and 85.7%) and (100,
100 and 100%) reduction of aphids numbers after 3, 6 and 9 days of predator releasing.
2. Foliar treatments:
•!• The activity of vertimec, biomite, Sol-EC, liquid-sulphur, Si-Si-6, detergent, neem-extract and CMC at recommended dose against cotton mites, aphids and jassids were assessed during the two successive seasons 1999 and 2000 using one foliar spray.
•:• Data showed that the most pronounced initial and residual activit y against cotton mites was achieved with vertimec (93.6 and 86.1%), followed by biomite (84.6 and 72.9%), Sol-EC (84.2 and 71.6%),
it's associated predator C. undecimpunctata, to select the promising
compounds, which can be recommended to use in integrated pest programs of cotton sucking pests, furthermore, to throw the light on the role of C. undecimpunctata predator in controlling A. gossypii, as one of the major injurious insects infesting cotton crop, under field conditions.
