A SPOTLGHT ON RECENT ADVANCES IN ROSACEA

Abstract

This work is done to present a detailed study of the recent advances in rosacea. Rosacea is characterized by a background of erythema and telangiectasia which may be superimposed by inflammatory episodes of papules, pustules and swellings. In the course of typical rosacea, special variants may occur mainly, the granulomatous form, the disseminated form and the steroid induced variety. Eye complications are common to ocuur in rosacea patients, these are either benign, in the form of conjunctivitis, blepharitis and chalazia or serious, threatening vision in the form of rosacea keratitis. Rhinophyma may present either as one stage of rosacea or it may be the only manifestation of the disease. The treatment of choice for all stages and complications of rosacea is oral tetracycline.
