EVALUATION OF SPLIT PONTIC FIXED PARTIAL DENTURE ON SURROUNDING TISSUES OF POSTERIOR TILTED ABUTMENT

Abstract


I
The study was conducted to evaluate split pontic fixed partial I denture and conventional partial denture on surrounding tissues of I tilted posterior abutments.

Twenty partially edentulous patients Kennedy class III were I
selected with lower second molar as tilted posterior abutment and
I
lower second premolar as anterior abutment. I

Patients were equally divided into two groups :

Group 1 : Received split pontic fixed partial denture prosthesis.

Group 2 : Received conventional removable partial denture prosthesis.


Bone density, bone height, crevicular fluid, gingival index, and pocket depth around abutments were evaluated for each of the prosthesis at different intervals: at delivery and after twelve months.


The results showed significant differences as regard all parameters between both prosthesis at all time intervals.


The results also showed there was sign'ificant differences within each group at different time intervals for all parameters evaluated.
