Settlement Analysis of Raft Foundations , of Elevated Tanks

Abstract
This study has fulfilled the following main objectives:
1. Review of available analytical methods used in the determination of contact pressure distribution• at the interface between the soil and raft foundations, as well as analytical methods used to predict load-settlement behavior of raft foundations.
2. Modeling the problem and using three-dimensional finite element analysis for predicting settlement and contact pressure distribution.
3. Parametric study to evaluate the different parameters effecting the subsoil deformations.
4. Analysis of a raft foundation of a case-study and comparing the
results, which were obtained from different types of material models, with the field measurements .
5. Comparing the results of this study with the common used design guidelines of raft foundations.
