Fouad Abdel Kader Abou Hamila;
Abstract
ubal factor is an important cause of female fertility. Assessment of tubal patency was traditionally by X-ray HSG and diagnostic laparoscopy. Ultrasonic evaluation of tubal patency has been recently introduced. In this study transvaginal ultrasonography with the additional use of colour flow mapping after injection of saline intrauterine a technique called colour Doppler sonosalpingography was investigated. Conelation with laparoscopy occuned in 76% of cases versus 66% of cases when X-ray HSG was used. This technique showed a sensitivity of
83%, specificity of 84% a PPV 74% and NPV% 90%, overall diagnostic accuracy 84%. The difference between it and X-ray was statistically non significant (p > 0.05).
