Optimum Sizing and Operation of Energy Storage System for a Grid Connected Wind Energy System

Mahmoud Samir Mahmoud Hassan;

Abstract

This chapter is illustrating a proposed methodology implemented by using the Genetic Algorithm and the results are compared to the iterative method. Two Genetic Algorithms are applied. In the first, the installation cost of BESS is assumed as the objective function with inequality constraint of the minimum charging and discharging time which must be greater than or equal to 30 minutes. The second algorithm uses the multiobjective GA optimization to provide a set of solutions giving diversity to the designer. The results of this chapter are obtained using Global Optimization Toolbox of MATLAB.
