" The Effects of Climate Change on Human Capital in Egypt " ( Comparative Study )
Nesma Abd El-Sabour Ahmed;
Abstract
From one hand, climate change has received significant global attention. Climate change presents a unique challenge. The spatial resolutions of many climate change projections are too serious to enable effective adaptation at the local or regional level. The gap between climate forecasts and projections and the needs of resource managers pose challenges to effective responses.
From another hand, human capital is widely accepted as an important determinant of economic growth and the importance of human capital accumulation is unconditionally acknowledged in the existing exogenous and endogenous growth theories.
When talking about the relationship between human capital and development, the primary idea is productivity (efficiency) of the economy, precisely its growth.
Singapore has taken a long-term approach to infrastructure planning and protection in order to support urban and economic growth. As a result, some measures are in place that would address the potential impacts of climate change. Various agencies are also looking into additional measures that may be necessary as climatic models improve and global understanding of climate science evolves.
