Abstract


The aim of the study is to: Assess the knowledge, attitudes, practices of preparatory school children as regard -of nutrition, chronic diseases, infectious diseases, and mental health.

This study was conducted•• from the fifth of March 1998 to the twentieth of April•I999 on• first year preparatory school students with• total number of 303 of different socioeconomic classes, from govermnenta1 and private schools in Cairo governorate, and from both sex (I70 males, 133 females}A uestionnaire was administered for each child assessing knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding nutrition, chronic diseases, and •infectious diseases, and•assessing child's personal
-•and social skills. Assessment of social condition of the family was done, and thte economic status, anthropometric measurements (weight and height) were done for each chi1d.
