Intensive Care Management of Cardiogenic Shock in The Critically-ill Patients
Mohamed Yousef Talaat El Laithy;
Abstract
SUMMARY
Cardiogenic shock is a life-threatening medical
condition resulting from an inadequate circulation
of blood due to primary failure of the ventricles of
the heart to function effectively with subsequent
sustained low blood pressure and tissue hypoperfusion.
This critical condition results from a variety of medical
conditions, the most common of which is acute myocardial
infarction. Other causes include mechanical complications of
myocardial infarction such as papillary muscle rupture,
ventricular septal rupture and free wall rupture. Also, it may
develop due to various arrhythmias, drug toxicities,
myocardial trauma, and pericardial tamponade.
