Physico-chemical and Analytical Studies of Some Electroactive Organic Compounds

Alia Dorgham Abd-Elrazek;

Abstract

In this thesis it was aimed to study the electrochemical behavior of some azo-compounds derived from 1-phenyl-3-amino-5-pyrazolone in addition to two pharmaceutical compounds to throw light on the nature of their electrode reactions in the B-R universal buffer of various pH values at the DME and HMDE using several electrochemical techniques. It was aimed also to optimize electro-analytical procedures for the trace determination of the investigated two pharmaceutical compounds in their bulk forms, pharmaceutical formulations and in spiked biological fluids using adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetry.
The thesis comprises three main chapters:

Chapter 1: It contains a general introduction of the principles of different voltammetric techniques used in the present study, namely: De polarography, differential-pulse, cyclic-, square-wave-, and stripping voltammetry.
Chapter II: It contains detailed descriptions of materials, preparation of various solutions, instrumentation and procedures of measurements. Chapter III: It contains the results and discussion of the electrochemical studies of the investigated azo- and pharmaceutical compounds using de polarography, controlled-potential coulometry, cyclic voltammetry and stripping voltammetry at the mercury electrodes.
